Digital Product Selling Vs Physical Product Selling

Some affiliates may have a liking to take up physical product selling. There is nothing wrong with that. However, I personally advise people to start with digital products such as ebooks, software, memberships, etc.

Though the effort to sell any product would be the same, you will find some advantages with dealing with digital products when you start out as a newbie. Clickbank deals with all digital products. Commission Junction (CJ) deals mostly with physical products. Terms of joining with CJ are tough. You will need a website of your own. Initially, you may not have much choice of products to choose from, If there is no sale for a long time from your site, CJ may close down your account.

With Clickbank, choosing the right product is easy. In the Market Place section, you can do a lot or research from different angles – such as gravity (how many other affiliates are making sales), refund rate, commission rate, etc. View the Pitch page (sales page). Is it attractively written? Will you be prompted to buy from this site? If note, drop that products. There are thousands of products available to sell.

Go for the product that appears attractive with a professional written and designed sales page to support sales. Though selling digital products online and selling physical product online may look the same, there are some differences.

Digital products are instantly down-loadable. And the profit margins are high. You will find several affiliate programs paying 50 – 75 percent commission. In the case of physical products, generally the commission rates are very low. For example, Amazon offers, 15 percent commission on most of its products.
